If you give a kid a Lorax ‘stache…

Confession:

This blog post is old. It got lost in my drafts folder. Just read it and pretend I posted it back in February!
I’m not sure how it happened, but in the past few weeks our home has been invaded by the Lorax.  It all began when I attended Blissdom in Nashville.

The Lorax was taking pictures in the hallway.  I stopped because, quite frankly,  a prize was involved. And I thought it might be fun to show the kids.

Now, if you show a kid a picture of their Mom with the Lorax, they’re going to want to meet him themselves.

And if they want to meet him, you’re going to have to take them to the Lorax Party.

And if you take a kid to the Lorax party, they’re going to give them ‘staches…

And if you give them ‘Staches, they’re going to want to take a picture with the Lorax.

And if they take a picture with the Lorax your soon-to-be-four-year-old will exclaim, “I cannot believe I got to touch a REAL Lorax!”

And once that happens, you’re pretty much going to end up throwing her a Lorax Birthday party and take everyone to see the movie.

I really blame Blissdom.

But I have to admit it was fun!

Straw Trainer Cup for Toddlers

Did you know that Playtex has come out with The First Lil’ Gripper Straw Trainer Cup to help babies/toddlers transition from bottles to cups?  Baby Sister likes it because she feels like a big girl.  Her brothers and sisters like it because she doesn’t try to steal their drinks and straws anymore!

What I like:

It’s BPA Free & Phthalate-free

Flexible soft straw doesn’t hurt sensitive gums
Daddy proof easy lid attachment (you know what I’m saying)
Slider to cover the straw and stop the cup from leaking all over your diaper bag
Squeezable cup to help get the liquid started in the straw
Available in 7 oz and 9 oz cup size

Dishwasher safe

What I’m trying to get over:

Cleaning the straw…I wish they sold a replacement pack of straws.

Also available at:
Babies R’ Us, Target, Kroger and Walmart

Disclaimer:

A complimentary cup was sent for review.  As always, my opinions, and those of my 18 month old are our own.  I do not post reviews for products I either don’t like or don’t believe are of value or interest to my fellow moms.  We’re all in this together, right?

Jello Aquarium Recipe

We needed a summer cooking activity and I thought the Jello Aquarium would be the perfect fun summer treat.
It has fruit, jello, and Swedish fish—everything a kid would love and its surprisingly easy and not too messy for Mommy!  If you are looking for a great end of summer treat and activity I highly recommend making  a Jello Aquarium.

More Jello recipes are available here.

HINT- water never tasted so good!

Recently I was asked if I wanted to try a new flavored water product called, Hint.  Since I live in Florida and it was the dead of summer, of course I readily accepted.   I have been trying to make water a more appealing beverage selection at our house. Mainly for myself because I am worse than my kids about drinking water.
There I’ve said it.
Earlier this summer I even took to making our own spa inspired flavored waters in the kitchen.  The dispensers were  gorgeous and it really did encourage more water consumption. However, like anything that takes effort, I quickly lost motivation and another homemaking fad fell by the wayside.
The lovely people at Hint sent us an assortment to try.  The flavors sounded fantastic.  Even the kids were curious.  After a couple hours in the fridge we began tasting and my opinion is that this is the BEST bottled water you can buy.  Seriously, it’s so great my kids ASK for it.  I cannot stop drinking the stuff. It’s fantastic. It is better than the flavored waters I was mixing up.  Sometimes I even like to add a sliced piece of fruit and pour some in a glass when I’m feeling fancy—otherwise we just drink it from the bottle.

If you have an Amazon.com prime account you’ll be happy to know that you can not only buy this water through amazon but you can SUBSCRIBE to it and have it regularly delivered! I know because I just put in a subscription order.

The idea behind Hint is simple: pure water, nature’s original refreshment, accented with a hint of natural flavor. No sugar, no artificial sweeteners: Hint is a refreshing alternative to sodas, juice and other sweetened drinks and it tastes great.

Our family favorites are:
Strawberry/Kiwi
Mango/Grapefruit
Stock up.  You can thank me later.

You’re welcome.
